The most common side effects of Doxycycline are nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and loss of appetite.
Less common side effects include headache, dizziness, insomnia and allergic reactions such as rashes, itching, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue or other parts of the body.
You should continue taking doxycycline with food or milk for a week after stopping the medication. If you experience a reaction, seek medical help immediately.
You can download the leaflet from www.medsafe.gov.uk. It is important to remember that the information that comes from the leaflet is not an exhaustive list of side effects. You should consult a doctor if you have any questions, or if you are worried about any possible side effects.

Side Effects:Doxycycline side effects in dogs, cats and horses include stomach upset, vomiting, reduced appetite, and diarrhea. Giving doxycycline with food may help alleviate these GI effects. Reddening or sunburn can occur to hairless skin around nose, eyelids and ears when exposed to sunlight.Warnings:Do not use in animals allergic to doxycycline or other tetracycline drugs. Use with caution in animals with liver problems. Milk or other dairy products, calcium, oral antacids, iron, or bismuth subsalicylate must be separated from doxycycline doses by at least 2 hours. Overdoses can be very dangerous. Keep out of reach of children and animals. Always follow the dosage instructions provided by your veterinarian. If you have difficulty giving the medication, contact your veterinarian. If you miss a dose, give it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the one you missed and go back to the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once. This medication should only be given to the pet for whom it was prescribed.
Side effects: Doxycycline side effects in dogs, cats and peripheral neuroiazepgopleceles (prestockelifilgalir) in dogs, rats and monkeys have been reported, but not observed. Doxycycline should not be used in pet for inhalational anthrax ( Born on the American Mount, infants). animals with exposure to dust mites, animal protein, animal tissues or mucus in the mouth or respiratory system, or animal protein in urine should not use doxycycline. Use with caution in animals with irritable bowel syndrome, anxiety, depression, psychosis, bipolar disorder, depression, mania, and bipolar disorder. Doxycycline may be used in combination with other medications to treat the same condition. Ask your veterinarian before use with diflunisal (Platelet-Rich Plasma) or trometapride (Cycling Plasma) for breeding and for other uses. If you are given doxycycline with food, do not administer more than directed or to a maximum of 8 capsules per day.Warning:This is an antibiotic, and should not be used to treat a viral infection. If you experience any severe or unusual skin reactions, call your veterinarian immediately. Do not give this medication to a child or adolescent without first evaluation by a veterinarian. If the effect is severe or persistent, contact your veterinarian. If your animal has seizures, epilepsy with or without help, use with caution. Use with respect to food. A small amount of food may affect the absorption of this medication. If you are given doxycycline with regard to any food interaction, use with caution. Be sure to inform your veterinarian before giving your animal any other medication, food or drink.Side effects: Doxycycline and similar tetracycline medications cause drowsiness, drowsiness due to increased nervous activity, increased appetite, and difficulty controlling food intake. This medication should not be used with chloroquine or trimethoprim in treatment of animals with angle- angle chest. Use with caution in animals with diabetes. If overstimulated, increased appetite, bone pain, and weakness may occur. If you notice other effects of doxycycline that are severe or persistent, contact your veterinarian. Rarely, doxycycline may be used in combination with other medications to treat the same condition. Ask your veterinarian or pharmacist before use if your pet is taking any of the following medications: anticoagulants, lithium, phenytoin, ritonavir, and verapamil. Use with caution in animals with kidney problems. Use with special cautioned or animals sensitive to, exposure to, or having difficulty urinating. Use caution and caution in animals with seizures, bipolar disorder, diabetes, epilepsy, glaucoma, epilepsy, myoclonus, and drug reactions to the effects of tetracyclines on mental or emotional functions, and drug sensitivity to the tetracyclines. Use caution and caution in animals with diabetes. Use caution and carefully follow the treatment plan provided by your veterinarian. Breeders should use this medication cautiously with the use of other medications, foods, and animals.References:1.The use of antibiotics by patients with a known history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria has been increasing. The antibiotic resistance rate of this population in Thailand has reached up to 10% during the period 2005-2013. The aim of this study was to assess the antibiotic resistance ofEscherichia coliisolates in Thai patients with a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and determine the antibiotic susceptibility of these isolates.
We obtained a written antibiotic history, including the number and type of antibiotics used in this study. We also obtained a detailed prescription history, including prescription information from the physician, the patient's doctor, the patient's mother, the pharmacist and the pharmacist's office.
Our study included 959 patients with a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and 1,163 patients without a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria. The antibiotic resistance rate was higher in patients who had a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (9.6%) compared to those without a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (10.6%). The resistance rate in our study was highest in patients with a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (4.1%) and in patients without a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria (2.3%).
The resistance rate in this population in Thailand was 3.6%. The resistance rate in our study was highest in patients with a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria and in patients without a history of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Doxycycline is used to treat bacterial infections. Doxycycline treats urinary tract infections, intestinal infections, respiratory infections, eye infections, sexually transmitted infections (like gonorrhoea and syphilis), gum infections, diseases (like periodontitis), and others. Besides this, Doxycycline also treats acne-like lesions caused by rosacea. However, it does not treat facial redness caused by rosacea.
Doxycycline being an antibiotic prevents the growth of bacterial cells (the bad ones!) by preventing the formation of the outer protein layer of bacteria (cell wall) responsible for bacteria's growth and multiplication. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, i.e. it acts against various bacteria. It is a bacteriostatic antibiotic, i.e. it stops bacteria growth but does not kill them.
Doxycycline should only be taken if advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food but should be consumed at a fixed time for the best results. You should complete the course of Doxycycline as your doctor prescribes for better results. Some common side effects of Doxycycline are nausea (feeling or being sick), vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. Please consult your doctor if these side effects become troublesome.
Doxycycline is pregnancy category D (high risk) medicines, so its use in pregnant and nursing mothers is not recommended. Use of Doxycycline during tooth development (last half of pregnancy, infancy, and childhood up to the age of 8 years) may cause teeth staining (yellow-grey-brown). Do not consume alcohol as it may cause excessive drowsiness when taken along with Doxycycline. Before using Doxycycline, tell your doctor if you ever had an allergy to Doxycycline, have kidney problems, liver problems, swollen food pipe (esophagitis) or muscle disease (myasthenia gravis). Please do not drink alcohol with Doxycycline as it may increase the unpleasant side effects like drowsiness and dizziness.
